Experts at Buckinghamshire New University created a device they designed to carry ventilators on hospital beds and said it could be used widely in the healthcare sector. The 600mm-wide aluminium and steel device is attached underneath the front of a patient trolley to carry the vital equipment.
Talented BA (Hons) Illustration student Adam Whewell provided colourful entertainment for shoppers as he worked on a large canvas in the centre of Accrington Market Hall, in Lancashire. He attracted crowds as he completed the 8ft by 4ft canvas of a whale in the ‘zentangle’ style of art.
Paralympian and graduate Naomi Riches MBE and High Wycombe MP Steve Baker were among the guests at Bucks New University’s 125th anniversary celebrations at the House of Commons. More than 100 dignitaries, business leaders, staff and guests gathered at Speaker’s House on the banks of the Thames to mark the occasion.
Simulation & Skills Facilities Team Leader Samantha McCormack became the first simulation technician to be awarded the Registered Scientist Recognition (RSci) through the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare. The Science Council accolade is a recognition of achieving and maintaining the standards required to join the global community of professional scientists.
A Bucks graduate saw her career take off as she starred in the ITV1 programme EasyJet: Inside the Cockpit. Charlotte Sullivan, 22, who studied BSc (Hons) Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training, was among young pilots shown going through their training with the air provider.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Rebecca Bunting addressed nearly 2,000 graduates, and their families, during graduation telling them to ‘keep on developing, stretching their minds and learning new things’.
Letters, samples of work, and memorabilia were buried in a time capsule during a ceremony bringing an end to Bucks New University’s 125th anniversary. Vice-Chancellor Professor Rebecca Bunting lowered the final concrete over the capsule and unveiled the commemorative plaque in the wild flower garden at the High Wycombe Campus.
We announced the cohort for our nine-month course in effective leadership for staff at Milton Keynes University Hospital. The programme, led by The Bucks Consulting Group, part of Buckinghamshire New University, is in its second year and welcomed its latest cohort of 16 students.
Bucks New University received a Brite Green Top 10 University Carbon Reduction Award for its efforts in reducing carbon emissions. The University Carbon Report showed that Bucks has reduced its emissions by 48% since 2005 and is in the top ten performers among 127 higher education institutions.
Bucks graduates Lucy Cannon and Helen Burt who fought cancer a total of ten times shared their stories with the national media to help launch Stand Up To Cancer month. The pair appealed for more money to be spent researching the disease.
Watford Football Club filmed the first in a new season of the Hornet Show with students and staff in the School of Arts & Creative Industries at our studios. Former player Tommy Smith joined presenters Jon Marks and Emma Saunders for the monthly programme.
Bucks and Wycombe District Council launched 'The Heritage Trail’ website. The guide, interactive tour sees a soldier, played by Bucks New University graduate and actor Liam Burton, take people around places of historical interest in the town and includes films, photos and commentaries.
Every year, 12 industry game changers are inducted into the Roll Of Honour at the Music Week Women in Music Awards and this year’s list included Bucks New University graduate Lara Baker, Marketing & Events Director at the Association of Independent Music (AIM).

The Assistant Director of Learning and Teaching was one of only 55 to receive the accolade this year.
Bucks New University announced it was one of the first to deliver Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeships - based on its existing award-winning pre-registration nursing programme. The Degree Apprenticeship is due to welcome its first cohort in March 2018.
Guests using the Wycombe Homeless Connection service over the festive period will have a nicer Christmas thanks to Bucks Students’ Union which took more than 70 filled and donated homeless hampers to the charity, based in Castle Street, High Wycombe.
