Date: 19th Jul 2017
Missenden Abbey has raised almost £1,500 for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity through its annual Summer Fair.
The conference centre, in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, is owned by Buckinghamshire New University and welcomed over 1,000 visitors for its fourth annual fair, raising a total of £1,421. This has been added to £42 raised by the charity itself on a stall it ran.
General Manager Eva Neupauer-Jones said: “The weather was brilliant and it was great that all visitors were able to enjoy the grounds and a stroll within the Walled Garden at the Abbey.
“We were delighted to raise a fantastic sum of money for a deserving cause in Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.
“We are always keen to support a local charity’s fundraising efforts and visitors were also able to meet the charity’s mascot, Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile!”
Emma Jeans of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity said: “It was wonderful to be invited as the charity partner for this years’ event.
“It was such a great day, raising almost £1500 for the charity, which will be used to support the work of our specialist nurses who care for seriously ill children across the UK.”
Missenden Abbey welcomes over 29,000 delegates and guests to the venue.
