During her third-year Szilvia was awarded a top £2,500 bursary by The Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters and a Student Award from the National Association of Decorative & Fine Art Society (NADFAS).

For her bursary, she wrote a detailed proposal and was interviewed for more than two hours about her final major project, called ‘Performance Luxe’.

Szilvia said: “I was very grateful and excited when I learned that I won the bursary and the NADFAS award this year.

“I knew I worked hard throughout the year, and in my second year, but I could never have imagined being honoured in this way.

“For both awards they were looking at creativity, work ethic and technical skills. It was also a great reassurance to know that hard work pays off and I am just happy that they appreciated my designs, style and technical knowledge.”

She added: “I found the best parts of the course were the times I spent making in the studio and in the workshop, which I hugely enjoyed.

“I used to go to University very early and left late to get the most of my time count there. I also loved the tutorial times I spent with lecturer Zoe Miller as she helped me all the way to get my bursary. She recommended me to go and helped me to get prepared for it.

"I would say the equipment and the studio space in this university is very impressive as I've heard that in some universities there is a lack of equipment or space or in some you would have to actually pay for the studio or desk space.”

Szilvia said she now has big plans for the future.

She added: “My five-year plan would be to set up my own business. I'd like to keep on making as I've enjoyed that the most. I would like to see where my job with Tom Dixon 研究 Studio leads, and I am very interested in the testing, quality control and production side of fashion and design.”

Senior Lecturer Zoe Miller said: “Szilvia has been an incredibly dedicated student with exceptional talent and ambition.

“I'm thrilled that she has secured her first role and believe this will be a fantastic start to her career within the design industry.

“Through her bursary with The Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters she will continue to be mentored and supported and of course I hope she’ll stay in touch with the tutors at Bucks New University too.”
