Leadership programme helping shape future of the NHS

Buckinghamshire New University is behind a nine-month course in effective leadership for staff at 米尔顿凯恩斯大学医院.

The programme, led by The Bucks Consulting Group, part of Buckinghamshire New University, is in its second year and has welcomed its latest cohort of 16 students, who are mainly based at 米尔顿凯恩斯大学医院.

The LEAP (Leaders Engaging In Action Programme) course aims to build effective teams, manage processes and achieve change, and gain commitment from workers, and is working with staff with leadership potential in clinical, nursing, operations and administrative areas.

Helen Cope, Senior Lecturer on the programme, said: "The programme is about developing practical skills and competencies to enable staff to build solutions.

"The focus is on applied leadership - where evidence is developed of leaders engaging in action with their teams to develop improvements to services in the Trust.

"It's a real pleasure to work with totally committed groups and in an environment where we are making a tangible contribution each and every time.

"Our work complements similar programmes in leadership, service improvement and communications across several NHS Trusts.

"Together, they have given Bucks New University, via Bucks Consulting Group, a serious presence in this field."

She said: "The programme is a modular format over nine months and delegates come from a mixture of multi-disciplinary roles, both clinical and professional support services at all levels in the organisation.

“The learning outcomes include the ability to effectively lead change, resolve conflict, set vision and motivate and inspire teams.

“The first cohort’s leadership skills and confidence have grown and developed well. Cohort two has just commenced and we are recruiting for cohort three which will begin in 2018.

“Bucks New University provide high-quality leadership skills development programmes, tailored to our organisation’s needs, and we have been very encouraged with the feedback and evaluation that we have received from the delegates.”
