Karen Buckwell-Nutt, Dean of Nursing and Allied Heath, said: "I am so proud of all our finalists.

“It is an achievement in itself to be shortlisted out of so many high calibre nominations. I am delighted that our simulation team at Bucks has been recognised in this way.

“Less than a year ago Sam asked if I would support and fund dementia simulation. The students’ feedback convinced me that this was a powerful simulation exercise.

“In making the award judges perceived the simulation activity as easily replicable, cost effective and has potential for great impact”.

Other nominations included:

  • Dr Sharon Edwards, Senior Nursing lecturer, and Mike Anjoyeb, Senior Lecturer, shortlisted for Educator of the Year;
  • Two other nominations in the Teaching Innovation of the Year category, sponsored by NHS Digital, for the University’s simulation initiatives in live-human scenarios and student-led sims;
