Nutrition at the heart of fifth Ageing Well event
白金汉郡 New University is holding its fifth annual Ageing Well community event, focusing this year on the importance of good nutrition to staying healthy.
The event, at the University’s campus in Queen Alexandra Road, 海威科姆, from 9.30am-4.30pm on Saturday 23 六月 includes workshops and expert speakers.
Dr Maria Konstantaki, Senior Lecturer in 运动 and Exercise Science, said: “We are once again anticipating a busy and informative day.
“This year’s focus on nutrition will reflect on the essential role it plays in ensuring good health.
“We will also highlight how eating the wrong types of food, or inadequate or excessive amounts of food, can lead to certain diseases or conditions.”
The event is organised with Movers & Shakers, which works with older people, and the Paradigm Foundation, and its aims are:
Educate older people, practitioners, students and community stakeholders;
Provide a platform for the local community to showcase Movers & Shakers’ exercise and other healthy initiatives;
Offer free health and fitness 'MOTs' to the local community;
Offer a healthy lunch and a forum for exchange of ideas.
Themes and speakers
Fad diets, diabetes and obesity - Ana Wojcik, registered nutritionist and diabetes consultant;
Malnutrition and dehydration in older people - Emma Sherington, registered dietician;
