The theme for this year is ‘Apprenticeships Work’ and over the next five days we hope to show you how apprenticeships can boost business 和 empower workforces.

Working in partnership with the private 和 public sector, Bucks New University offers a flexible route for business to access the life-changing opportunities that higher education provides for its employees.

Starting with the introduction of the government’s Apprenticeship Levy last year, the new-style of training is new for the University but it has already has welcome the first cohort of Assistant Practitioner apprentices in January 和 is due to have its first Registered Nurse cohort in Spring.

Bucks is continually developing new degree apprenticeships in areas including early years education, health and social work, nursing, engineering, management, accountancy 和 digital technology.

The team at the Bucks New University hub, based at University Campus Aylesbury Vale, kicked off National Apprenticeship Week with a poster design competition.

Kate Danbury, Apprenticeships Programme Manager, and Lauren Besant, Marketing Officer, gave first-year BA (Hons) Graphic Design and Graphic Art students at our High Wycombe Campus a live-brief to create a poster promoting higher 和 degree apprenticeships.

Kate said: “We wanted to ask our very talented graphic arts students to put their creativity to the test by creating an attention-grabbing poster that highlights the benefits of new degree apprenticeships.

“Apprenticeships and the ability to collaborate with local businesses is such an exciting opportunity for Bucks, but we were also keen to work alongside our traditional degree students on a live brief and make the most of our home-grown talent. The results have been really creative and inspiring 和 will be put to good use in our work promoting apprenticeships.”

Lauren worked with the students asking them to create a poster for either employers or apprentices 和 said they had worked very hard on the designs.

She added: “I was so impressed with the enthusiastic way the students approached their first live brief. They produced some very eye-catching designs 和 it was lovely getting to work with them on an exciting new project.”

The winner is due to be announced on Thursday (8 March).

Throughout this week keep an eye on TwitterLinkedIn to find out what’s going on, how apprenticeships work, and how they can act as a fast-track to a great career 和 business growth.
